Great short film explaining some of the cultural reasons why people are addicted. Addiction doesn't just encompass areas we are familiar with, such as gambling, drugs or alcohol, it also applies to behaviours we don't necessarily associate with addiction such as exercise, cleaning, 'doing', food etc.
In my practice, in addition to a client's social situation, I always look at their family of origin and the messages they received about themselves and the world as they were growing up. Every family contains a level of anxiety and it's fascinating to analyse how each member copes with their own specific level.
I recommend this film as a good start for anyone struggling to understand addiction.
